Eli and Jacob Froneberger grew up in Marin and never left.
In 2013 they milled planter boxes out of old-growth oak pallets that were headed for a landfill and sold them at farmers markets. Demand outran supply. They pooled what they had, leased a shop, and started taking on remodels.
Twelve years later Greenport is a licensed general contractor with a woodshop in San Rafael, a Dwell Remodel of the Year, and a permit history across Marin, San Francisco, and the East Bay. The model has not changed. Design and construction under one roof, millwork built in-house, and one of the two of them on every project.
Planter boxes to permit sets
The company began with planter boxes built from salvaged old-growth oak pallets and sold at farmers markets. The material discipline stuck. So did the habit of finishing the back of the thing nobody will see.
Eli is CEO. Jacob is CFO, which is why the cost reporting on a Greenport job is a document and not a phone call.
