Greenport Construction

Questions

What owners, architects, and designers ask before the first site walk.

What does design-build mean at Greenport?
Drawings, permitting, construction, and millwork come from one firm under one contract. There is no gap between the person who drew the detail and the person who builds it, and no second party to blame when a detail does not resolve.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Yes. When an architect is already engaged we build to their set, return shop drawings and constructability notes early, and mill the casework in our own shop so details survive the bid.
Where do you work?
Marin County, San Francisco, and the East Bay, from our shop at 47 Louise St in San Rafael. Built work in our register includes Kentfield, Mill Valley, San Francisco, Richmond, Danville, and Palo Alto.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Greenport holds California General Building Contractor license #1073941, active through 3/31/2027.
Do you build your own cabinetry?
Every piece of millwork we install is built at our San Rafael shop. Stock is FSC-certified, hand-selected, and salvaged wherever species and schedule allow. Clients and designers can sight boards before they are cut, by appointment.
How does a project start?
With an on-site consultation. Call (415) 413-0038 or send the project details through the contact page, and we will set a time to walk the property.
Who handles permits?
We do. We run feasibility and zoning review, assemble and submit the permit set, track plan-check corrections, and attend counter meetings, so the owner is not managing a plan check.
Do you help after the project is finished?
Yes. Our concierge work covers seasonal upkeep and finish repair, pre-sale and post-sale inspections, code compliance resolution, and expert witness consulting in construction litigation.
